A little bit about me…

A Really Short, Illustrated Story About How I Ended Up in Nursing School

I am currently working on my RN degree in NJ.. here’s how I got there:

After highschool I attended a four-year college

partied a lot

and somehow managed to get my degree in Psych.

I thought I would graduate and get a great job.

Instead of my ideal life, I landed a somewhat rewarding allbeit painfully underpaying job in social services, working with mentally challenged adults. I had the job for 3 years and lived at home in the process because I could barely make ends meet.

I decided that I needed to make a change. I’m smart, test well, and had been

changing adult diapers in group homes anyway

….  so why couldn’t I be a nurse?

I quit my job and scored an office position curtosey of my friend. I applied to nursing school, and was a little disheartened by all of the science pre-requisites I was missing, but decided to go for it. And, with the much needed help of student loans, I was able to get my own apartment. (Decent apartments in NJ do NOT come cheap!).

So, here I am 2 years later, after completing my first semester as a student nurse. I have 3 more to go, and I know there will be plenty of bumps in the road, but I know it will all be worth it in the end.

… oh, and in the process I met a great guy too 😉

  3. Kristen,

Hello. My name is Ryan Sapp and I am a fellow college student. I have been searching the internet for college student blogs and came across yours and found it refreshing. Glad there are still students out there who do good work and still have time for a social life!

I wanted to see if you would be interested in writing a post about a site I started for college students. The website is called http://www.isleptthroughclass.com. It is a place where college students can get free lecture notes, chat with other college students, and earn money for taking good notes. We are trying to let as many college students as possible know about this free tool and hoped you might be able to help.

Our site has been featured on CollegeCandy.com and other popular blogs. This website is something your readers might be interested in hearing more about it. If you find our site interesting and want to become a member, I would gladly upgrade your account to a premium membership (called Scholar on the site) for helping us out.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions or would like to share more about your blog.

  4. Oh sorry, thought this was a way to email you 🙂
